You will need

  • MILKMAID Tin 390gMILKMAID Tin 390g 1
  • Butter (melted) 100g
  • Water 150ml
  • Vanilla Essence 1 Tsp
  • Flour 200g
  • Cocoa Powder 50g
  • Baking Powder 2 Tsp
  • Baking Soda 1 Tsp
  • Dates 100g
  • Icing Sugar 200g
  • Hot Water 50ml
  • Butter (softened) 10g
  • Cocoa Powder 1 Tsp

Let’s make it

Step 1
Sift cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and flour together. Combine MILKMAID, butter , water and vanilla essence in a bowl. Stir the dry ingredients, including dates into the MILKMAID mixture until just combined.
Step 2
Pour the mixture into a lined baking tray. Bake in a pre-heated 150 C oven for 45 minutes.
Step 3
Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove from tin and cool completely.
Step 4
To prepare the icing, place butter in a bowl. Add the sifted cocoa powder and icing sugar and sufficient hot water and mix to a smooth but firm consistency
Step 5
Ice the cake once cooled.
